In not too long from now we will be saying goodbye, tatar, maloway, howaho etc. to 2016 as we welcome 2017. Yet before that we do celebrate the life of our beloved Jesus Christ today December 25th. I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous 2017. As we all celebrate the memories of Jesus (The Prophet Issa) we need to reflect our minds whether we are abiding to his messages that he delivered to mankind from God. This is where honesty sets in- and by that I mean we search our conscience and confess to God that yes we have and will continue to abide by his teachings as stated in the Holy Bible and Holy Quran. Man is a sinner and Jesus knows that hence his dying for all the sinners. Since we are all sinners, then reflection is a vital part of education and hence part of our daily lives. Again honesty sets in when we confess to God that we did our best to abide by his commands but yet we are still found wanting in some areas. The only way we communicate to God is through prayers. We do not only pray in church or at the masjid, but everywhere. Let us be honest with God, admit to him that we have made mistakes and ask for his forgiveness. Let us thank him for all he has done and continue to do for us for. Let us always remember the famous quote from the Bible “render thy heart and not thy garment”. Give the Lord your heart as you worship him. Not everybody is happy during this festive season. Some have lost loved ones who have gone home to be with God. They were with them last year this time but now they are gone enjoying the glory of God. May God comfort you and bring peace in your minds. May God make it easy for all those he has called to join him.
Let us all continue to pray for our beloved Sierra Leone and the United States of America. May all Sierra Leoneans continue to enjoy our blessing as Christians and Muslims living together as brothers and sisters both in Sierra Leone and the world over. Lots of our friends and relative are visiting Sierra Leone; may God guide them as they embark on their journeys, make their visit full of good memories and bring them back to us safely.
At this time, all the members of the United Brothers and Sisters of Sierra Leone do wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
